JACINTO & LIRIO (meaning “Hyacinth” and “Lily”) is a social enterprise that transforms a “pest” into eco-iconic and multi-functional leathergoods sustainably made from water hyacinth, with a mission to empower affected families by the water hyacinth infestation problem through livelihood generation.
The Water Hyacinth has severely infested Philippine waters ever since. It can reduce light and oxygen, change water chemistry, affect local flora and fauna, cause problems in marine transportation, fishing, irrigation, floods, and increased pollution. Here in Jacinto & Lirio however, we transformed the water hyacinth problem into the perfect opportunity to help the planet and its people.
We recognized the need to strengthen the sustainability of community livelihoods using indigenous materials, which is a major source of income in various areas in Asia. Which is why for every purchase of Jacinto & Lirio, we contribute to the community development of our partners so they can keep transforming their families, and their communities for the better.
Jacinto & Lirio provides beautifully handcrafted plant leathergoods which are impressively multi-functional yet stylish conversational-pieces with a lifestyle appeal for professionals, and companies who want to create a strong patriotic, environmental and socio-ethical statement. We make INDIGENOUS LOOK SEXY.
It is a brand that stands for “Stylishness, Sustainability, and Empowerment”

Lilykha & Brand Ambassador Search
For the month of October, Jacinto & Lirio wanted to celebrate Local Creations and Craftsmanship at the Time of the Pandemic through our campaign called Lilykha. Lilykha is a portmanteau of the Filipino word “likha” or create and “lily” from the local misnomer of the water hyacinth.
During the month of October, we will have the following activities:
Lilykha Linggo (October 3 to October 9, 2020) – Jacinto & Lirio will create a drawing prompt or list consisting of 7 words—which will serve as the word of the day. Now every day for 1 week, a famous local artist in the Philippines will be sharing his/her artwork inspired by the word of the day. Sharing his/her own definition and expression of the word. Lilykha Linggo is the Filipino version of the famous international art challenge known as Inktober. Where artists from across the world draw 1 artwork per day based on a prompt/list.
Brand Ambassador Search (October 12 to October 17) – After one week of featuring a local famous artist, we want to see more local artistS take the spotlight. Which is why, for the first time in 10 years, Jacinto & Lirio will be searching for it’s very first Brand Ambassador. We will be conducting a one-week search for our Brand Ambassador through an art challenge. The brand ambassador search is open to anyone. All they have to do is to create one artwork per day inspired by Jacinto & Lirio’s drawing prompt/list. All they have to do is create 1 artwork per day, and they can already get the chance to be our Brand Ambassador. Who will represent us and everything we believe in locally, and internationally.
This campaign is our way of celebrating local artists and creatives despite the pandemic. They continue to innovate and create works of art regardless of the trying times we are in. Much like how the water hyacinth, despite its harmful effects, is transformed into eco-iconic products.
